For the eighth year, artists Catherine Kramer and Emily Eve Weinstein are teaming up to provide a remarkable visual experience of both 2-D and 3-D artwork.
Emily has expanded her repertoire to include abstract painting in acrylic. There will still be many oil paintings on canvas and repurposed wood, lithographic prints, art gift books, and cards.
The 25-year Handmade Book Series is approaching the nineteenth year of production. Volume XVIII will be unveiled at this year’s Open Studio. Weinstein's all-encompassing book project will be completed in approximately seven years. The twist and turns of the 25-year series follows a life in art, which requires 25 years of living, telling, and of sharing.
Subscriptions are available, and individual copies are now available.
Catherine will be displaying many new embellished gourds, ranging from refined to whimsical. Inspired by ancient techniques used to decorate gourds intended for both daily and ceremonial use, her pieces are created using many different materials and techniques, including fiber, ink, paper, botanicals, weaving, woodburning, and collage.
The shape and texture of each gourd informs its unique final design.

The 25-Year Handmade Book Project
The ArtsCenter in Carrboro
The ArtsCenter in Carrboro presented a solo exhibition of 17 hand-bound volumes that document the artist’s creative output year by year, each paired with autobiographical essays. Begun in 2009, the durational project traces a life in art through painting, writing and experimental bookmaking. Many of the oil paintings featured in the books were also on view.
