Moon Book carries the subtitle "A Pictorial Journal of a Year of Painting the Full Moon." Author and artist Emily Eve Weinstein has followed the full moon to rooftops, mountains and roadsides, before an angry ox's horns and inside a tippy rowboat. The result is the series of full moon paintings published in the book. Over 140 paintings were created over the course of a year, and 71 color plates (with anecdotes) are featured in the book.
The book captures the imagination, and it is easy to understand why: Weinstein's work, over the course of the series, visibly changes to a looser style and becomes more expressive as the year unfolds. Her insights into painting, and life itself, lend themselves to the reader savoring those moments captured so beautifully in paint.
